Programs and Services

Direct Services

El Comite provides a diverse range of bilingual/bicultural human services to the Longmont and Boulder County Latino Community.  Professional case workers are available from 9 AM to 5 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to respond directly to clients individuals needs. Case workers assist by providing case management, information and referral, consultation, conflict resolution and mediation, immigration information, or by acting as clients' advocate.

El Comite bridges the language gap by providing English/Spanish translation and interpretation. While El Comite specializes in services to the Latino community, all members of the community are welcome to receive our assistance. El Comite also offers services through ‘guest case workers’ from agencies who are present at the office at regular hours each week: Longmont Senior Center, City of Longmont Office of Community Relations, BCAP AIDS screenings, and community attorneys.

In 2006, El Comite provided direct services to 3,493 clients.

Latino Parent Program

This program is a series of classes designed to educate Latino parents otherwise unfamiliar with the American school system about the workings of their children’s schools and opportunities to further engage them in their children’s education.  Classes are held bi-annually in the fall and spring.  Contact
Roberto Munoz at El Comite for more information.

Civic and Community Education

Civic Engagement and Education
El Comite works to empower the Latino community by providing opportunities to become further civically engaged.  We provide quarterly citizenship workshops to assist legal permanent residents with the application for citizenship and we are a registered voter registration drive agent so that we can register individuals to vote.  Voter education forums are held in the fall prior to elections and additional assistance with obtaining non-partisan information on candidates or issues, locating precincts, or the process in general is available at the office.

Community Education
El Comite participates in a variety of community collaboratives to enhance community awareness about the culture, contributions, and/or needs of the Latino community, to enhance immigrant integration, and to foster mutual respect and understanding.
